Description: Popularly known as the 'Ross Smith Memorial' the obelisk was erected by the Australian Government in 1921 to commemorate the flight by Ross and Keith Smith, Wally Shiers and James Bennett in Vickers Vimy G-EADU from England to Australia in 1919. The aircraft landed nearby at Fannie Bay landing ground which had been selected and cleared by Hudson Fysh and marks a spot very close to the flight path of the aircraft on its landing approach on 10 December 1919
