Description: A group of people at the re-enactment of the mail delivery for the Alice Springs bicentenary in 1971. William Ernest Duncan (deceased 1978), was chosen by the Centenary committee as the last surviving PMG morse operator from the Alice Telegraph to act in the re-enactment as the Alice ‘postmaster’. The riders pictured had actually ridden from Oodnadatta with the mail. William Ernest Duncan to the left of picture, wearing top hat, receiving the mail from the riders.
