Biographical notes: Amy Isabel Conway was a boarding house keeper and a foundation member of the Country Women’s Association. Her husband was a drover and she often travelled with him through out the Northern Territory. On his death, she returned to Darwin where she made a living out of taking in laundry, cooking at the hospital and providing meals and accommodation to the single men in town. Amy Conway was known as a strong woman who had a hard and sad life as she had buried three husbands.
