She met and married Timothy (Tim) Angeles at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Darwin in 1933. Together they had 12 children. In 1942 Elna and their seven children were evacuated to Brisbane prior to the first air raids on Darwin in February and like many families living in Darwin at that time their home was bombed and destroyed. In 1946 the family returned to Darwin and Tim became a government employee. The family grew and they lived in a variety of huts and houses. In 1974 they were once again evacuated to Brisbane after Cyclone Tracy which also destroyed the family’s second home they had built. Elna’s life has been more then raising a family of 12 children she was also involved in community affairs she saw the need for a kindergarten and was instrumental in helping to raise $600 for the establishment of a pre-school in Stuart Park and was the president for three years.
