Service History: Saw service as a bugler in the Victorian and Australian Military Forces, 1900-05. Major 4th Field Ambulance, 26 March 1915, then Lieutenant Colonel 11th Field Ambulance, 11 September 1916. SMO Australian Base Depot, 10 June 1917. Burston received a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order and Knight Commander OBE. Conspicuous bravery at Ploegsteert Wood from 5-12 June 1917. Burston was Senior Medical Officer, 2nd AIF from 1939 and served in WW2 as VX2.
