|Service History:||Cowie left Port Darwin with the Fifth Contingent on 16 August 1915 aboard the 'Eastern'. He embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A26 'Armadale' on 18 September 1915. He was wounded in action three times: on 5 August 1916, on 9 March 1917 and on 2 September 1918. He was awarded the Military Medal on 20 September 1917 for conspicuous gallantry at Westhoek Ridge. Cowie returned to Australia on 22 January 1919.|
