Biographical notes: He was the son of government drilling contractor W.J. Young. On his return to Darwin after the war, Jim Young started a garage and hire car business in Smith St. He served the RSL in the capacity of President for terms over the years 1926 to 1929, 1932, 1935 and 1937 to 1941. In 1928 he was president of the NT Football League. In 1927 he played in a Darwin cricket team against an Australian 11 led by Bill Woodfull, Bert Oldfield and Warren Bardsley. His wife Emily Young (nee Tighe) was killed while on duty at the Darwin Post Office during the Japanese air raid on the 19th February 1942. Listed on the electoral roll in Subdivision of Darwin in 1922, 1934, 1937, 1940 and the 1941 phonebook. Profession Engineer and owner of a garage. Had a private cremation.
