Biographical notes: Ken was born on Kangaroo Island. He was a brother of Maurice Rodman Beckwith born 1893, Ruth born 1895 and Lois in 1905, all born in Palmerston. His elder brother Ralph was born in Glenelg. Their parents were Ralph James and Ruth Agnes (nee Manthorpe). His grandfather was James Beckwith of the Overland Telegraph, who is mentioned in the Northern Territory Dictionary of Biography. There is a photograph of his father in PictureNT as a member of the Palmerston Dingo Glee Club.
