Biographical notes: Born 15 April 1875, the son of Hugh Macpherson, bookkeeper and Alice Emma nee Clarkson. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Sarah, of Turramurra, his daughter Margaret Helen and his son Ronald Horace.

Service History: MacPherson was part of the Matabele Relief Force in1896 and Brabant's Horse, a Light Horse Regiment, in 1900. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A68 'Anchises' 24 August 1916. He returned to Australia 1 September 1917 and embarked again from Melbourne on board HMAT A73 'Commonwealth' 2 October 1917. Discharged from duty 11 November 1918.
