Description / Abstract: The bombing of Darwin, the first armed attack on mainland Australia, though not well known beyond the city and the Northern Territory, is now recognised as a significant event in Australia’s history. The 70th anniversary on 19 February 2012 will be the last major commemoration of this historical event, as each year passes there are fewer remaining of those who experienced the attack.
