Abstract

Yatinyilla is a location on the Yaddanilla Creek adjacent to Vaddingilla Rockhole some 20 kilometres south of Owaitilla (Canteen Creek, Figure 1). Three unsuccessful bores have previously been drilled near Yatinyilla for the Office of Local Government in 1987 (Figure 2 and Appendix 1). One of these bores RN 15164, produced 0.2 L/s of brackish water from 103 metres. The other two were dry. In 1990 Jurnkurakurr Council through the Tennant Creek PAWA Aboriginal Essential Services office identified Yatinyilla for the 1990-1991 Outstation Drilling Program. Site selections and office work was completed in the last half of 1990, unfortunately heavy rain delayed drilling rig access until April, 1991.,
