Jimmy Melrose's aircraft DH80A Puss Moth VH-UQO 'My Hildegarde'. The aircraft was entered as Race No 16 in the Centenary Air Race from London to Melbourne as part of the Melbourne Centenary Celebrations. Melrose completed the flight in a corrected time of 79 hour 17 minutes 50 seconds, placing him third in the Handicap section. Scott and Blank had claimed first prize with the speed section, leaving Parmentier and Mill in the KLM DC2 to claim the 10,000 pounds handicap section prize. Melrose was therefore able to claim second prize - the only Australian prizewinner.,
