In 1942 Lillian arrived in Alice Springs to marry her husband Bertram. They had one daughter and three sons. She joined the Church of England women's auxiliary and was a member of the Alice Springs Quota Club for fifteen years. Lillian a member of the Red Cross Society wheeled trolleys on canteen duty from ward to ward at the Alice Springs Hospital and she gave support at the YWCA and The Alice Springs Spastic Centre fund-raiser.
She donated handmade raffle prizes to the Alice Springs Cycling Club, Tennis Association, Basketball Club, and crocheted, knitted craft material to raise money for the Girl Guides Association, school fetes, the Ghan Preservation Society and the Old Timer's Home also made supper and helped run Bingo nights for the Federal Football Club.
Lillian received the Quota Club presidential award for her outstanding service in 1987.,
