Biographical notes

Percy was born in Ballarat in 1879 to parents Thomas and Annie (nee Carr) Preston. Annie continued to be registered on Victorian electoral rolls, whilst Percy moved around. He was registered to vote in the 1910 election in the Division of Swan (W.A.). In the 1925 election after the war, Percy was registered as a farmer in the Division of Brisbane (Qld.) Sadly Percy committed suicide at his residence, 17 City Road Darlington (N.S.W.) at the age of 54 after a long history of mental illness. A Coroner’s Inquest was held on the 30 May 1932.,

Oath taken at Fraser’s Hill, Queensland, 28 August 1915. His unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A33 'Ayrshire' on 1 September 1915. Medically discharged on 14 August 1916.,
