A Church Service at Goulburn Island Mission Station. The missionaries are (left to right), the Reverend James Watson, Miss Amy Corfield, Mr and Mrs A.E. Lawrence. Watson is standing beside a poster of the miracle of Jesus walking on the water.,

Notes

Date: Unknown Ted Ryko was on Goulburn Island between 1 December 1916 and 4 January 1917 and missionary Constance Amy Corfield noted that he took a number of photographs (MS 45 Amy Corfield Diary [copy typescript]). Ryko's granddaughter positively identified the writing in the corner "Ryko Photo/ - Copyright - Service At Goulburn/ Island Mission Stn/ N.T." as consistent in style and context with other items known to be taken by Ryko. This photograph is a duplicate of PH0055/0039, Ted Ryko Collection, Northern Territory Library. This photograph is also held by the Library of New South Wales (MPG 173), part of an album donated by A.E. Lawrence and image identified in handwritten annotation as 'First service held at Goulburn Island, Arnhem Land, 1916'. Amy Corfield did not arrive on the Island until 5 September 1916. She noted that on 10 September that she 'Attended church service in the morning out in the open air; played the organ with much pleasure'.,
