Events are held throughout the NT, including activities designed for school students, community service workers and the general public. DCLS participates in law week by conducting legal information sessions - including our popular identifying legal issues for your clients workshop, and joining with other legal services at information stalls and other events. More information and registration form available from www.dcls.org.au or 8982 1111. Recent submissions DCLS made a submission on the new Personal Violence Restraining Order Bill 2015. The Bill, as proposed, will simply move the personal violence restraining order provisions from the Justices Act to a standalone act. We submitted that the existing PRVO provisions do not go far enough to protect vulnerable people from apprehended violence. By way of example, there are no provisions dealing with urgent applications. We will wait to see if any changes are proposed. We will soon start work on reviewing the Adult Guardianship Bill 2016. Contact DCLS if you would like further information on these matters.
