ACRE TO EXPLOIT THE SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ITS ALLIANCE WITH THE UTILITIES. THE POTENTIAL FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY TO DISPLACE FOSSIL FUEL AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS IS WIDELY RECOGNISED. ACRE IS FOCUSED ON GETTING AUSTRALIAN RENEWABLE ENERGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT INTO THE MARKETPLACE. ITS INITIAL TARGET IS 20 CENTS PER KILOWATT HOUR FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY. SITES WITH SINGLE DIESEL GENERATORS ARE SEEN AS IDEAL FOR MARKET ENTRY BECAUSE THEIR ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION COSTS CAN REACH THREE TO FIVE TIMES THAT TARGET. ACRE HAS A POWERFUL INTERNATIONAL AGENDA AND IT SEEMS PROBABLE THAT THE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES WILL USE IT FOR ADVICE ABOUT THEIR ENERGY MANAGEMENT PRIORITIES. IT IS ENVISAGED THAT ACRE WILL PROJECT MANAGE PROJECTS ON BEHALF OF DEVELOPING COUNTRY INTERESTS AND THAT IT INTENDS TO CONTRACT, WHERE AVAILABLE, THE APPROPRIATE SKILLS FROM WITHIN ITS MEMBERSHIP. THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE AUTHORITY AND THE TERRITORYS RENEWABLE ENERGY INDUSTRY ARE INVOLVED IN 14
