A review of information services for environmental research at eriss has identified the need to develop a metadatabase and to identify the usefulness of data management systems specifically for wetland research purposes. These systems will form part of a corporate information service that will underpin the goal of providing advice on selected environmental issues through research. A metadatabase was seen as the first step in preserving the data resource of the Institute and providing an information base for expanded research endeavours. The potential value of relational databases, decision support systems, Geographic Information Systems and the Environmental Resource Information Network (ERIN) were also outlines. Abstract,
