At H.Q. for morning tea and a chat. Pauline is leaning on the servery, Dorothy Durack (green skirt) and Eileen Gayton and army officers. Dorothy Durack was a resident of Darwin and was one of the famous "Durack" family. Eileen Gayton was also a Darwin resident. Eileen was a Signals Captain when the hospital ship 'Oranje' arrived with the POWs. She learned a fellow officer's husband was on board and brought him to the mess for lunch. His wife was my C.O at Bandiana. His name was Bryce Jameson. After lunch, he came and said "It was the first roast potato he'd had in four years". Eileen remained in Darwin after the war, married and had 3 daughters. Pamela who lives at Rapid Creek and Patricia and Paulette in Perth.,
