Aero X aircraft UH-UNA the 'Southern Sun' on the occasion of the first all-Australian air mail from Australia to England. The aircraft belonged to Kingsford-Smith's ANA concern. Flown by G. V. 'Scotty' Allan, Bob Boulton and L. M. Callaghar with H. C. Brinsmead (Controller of Civil Aviation) as passengers, it was chartered by the Australian and British Governments to convey the mail to England. Following an uneventful flight from Darwin via Singapore the aircraft crashed on take-off from a water-logged Alor Star aerodrome, necessitating Kingsford Smith to complete the run in the 'Southern Star', another of his ANA Aero X aircraft. Crowd gathered around plane.,
