Description

Surveys of waterbird usage of 30 wetlands on the Barkly blacksoil plain, Northern Territory (NT), were conducted by the Conservation· Commission of the NT in January, February,March and May 1995. Funding was provided by the Australian Heritage Commission. The work was in response to recommendations arising from similar surveys undertaken during March 1993 to March 1994. Surveys were performed from the ground and from a helicopter, at wetlands that were representative of wetland types in the Barkly region. Rainfall in the Barkly wetlands catchment in 1995 was average to below average and late occurring, but sufficient to partly fill four large lakes.,
