Abstract
The vegetation of floodplains of major river systems between the Moyle River in the west and the Glyde River (Arafura Swamp) in the north-east coast of the Northern Territory was surveyed over the period March - May 1990. Sampling was carried out on a systematic grid of east-west transects and consisted of a combination of aerial identification and ground surveyed sites. The surveyed data will provide a more complete assessment of wetlands of high conservation value and help identify appropriate management options and priorities.
Approximately 26 families and 504 taxa are thought to occur within the wetland systems, although not all species are endemic to these habitats.
The report summarises the physical descriptions of the floodplains from the ANCA Wetland Directory.,
