Handwriting on back of photo: 54 RAAF Directorate of Public Relations. Photo NW 323. Caption states : Notches in his Tail. Spitfire pilots at a North-Western Operational base keep the squadron score in the tail of a Japanese zero fighter which they shot down. And there is room for more. Each Nip shot down is shown as a nip from a whiskey glass. In the picture are from left : Sgt. W. Eldred, F/O Quinn, F/O J. S. Taylor, F/O Yearby, who was formerly with American Eagle Squadron, and F/O G. C. Ferries.
