Celebrations last week marked the 21st year for the Northern Territory Police Force's Information and Fingerprint Section, the longest existing specialist section in the force. Flown to Darwin for the celebrations was retired NSW Police Superintendent Ron McDonald who was seconded in 1957 to set up the Fingerprint Bureau with Sergeant Denzil McManus its longest serving officer. Sergeant McManus proudly carries the tag, 'Daddy' for also being the oldest member of the local force at 51 years, and is one of only 14 police officers in Australia who are recognised as being an expert in the fingerprint field.
