Description: 1984. Another 10 years has passed during which time Eileen McIntyre (nee Lieut. Colonel Parry was persuaded to write a History of the A.W.A.S. in the Northern Territory. We also had two Reunions - first one at the Victoria Coffee Palace in 1981 & the 2nd was at the Kirribilli RSL Sydney in 1982 - where it was suggested a return trip to Darwin in 1984. Will enter the photographs of these reunions further on. As time went by Sydney didn't start organising any trip, so Reena made enquiries about a bus trip for 45 and plenty were interested until they had to pay the fare & there were 12 cancellations, which didn't make the trip viable. It was a big disappointment after all the work done & we had been in contact with the Army in Darwin & they agreed to put in a Plaque for us. Reena & I went & had the Plaque made & we decided those who were interested to get a package deal through the airlines & we were to be in Darwin for August 14th which was the date the Army gave. Pauline, Reena and Dot left the week before us but Ruth, Marie, Eileen, Nancy & I all left together on August 12th. It was a wet, windy & very cold morning when we left Melbourne, at 9.10am. We landed in Adelaide just after 10am. It was cloudy & overcast when we took off from Adelaide just after 10.30am. It was lunch time when we flew over Alice Springs & we landed in Darwin approximately 2pm & the heat hit us full on. Boy was it HOT. We were given a ride to the motel by a good Samaritan, for which we were grateful. Eileen (Mooney) Gaytor & Dorothy Wilson were at the Lodge to welcome us & we all enjoyed a cup of tea & a lot of chatter.
