Biographical notes: Beaumont Philpott moved from Western Australia, to the Northern Territory and joined the Union Reefs Gold Mining Syndicate prior to enlisting in the Army. Private Philpott’s enlistment papers show that he had served in the British Army "Territorial Forces" for two years.

Service History: Embarked Brisbane aboard the HMAT 'Aeneas' on 29 June 1915 for Alexandria and proceeded to Gallipoli Peninsular. Disembarked Marseilles, France on 19 March 1916. His death by "Gas Poisoning" on 17 June 1916 was confirmed by the 73rd Field Ambulance on 20th June 1916. "I saw him killed at Messines about the middle of July. He was gassed and struck by shell. He was wounded very badly all about the body. This occurred in the front line trenches. He lay in the trenches and died there in the early morning. I knew him very well. He came from Port Darwin as I do. He belonged to A Co..." Pte. A Taylor 1054 B Co.
