Biographical notes: Dowsett worked as Private Secretary to the Northern Territory Administrator prior to going to war. He was badly wounded at Pozieres and returned to Australia in 1917 where he again took up his post as Private Secretary before resigning to go to the Federated Malay States (West Country Rubber Estate, Kajang, Selangor) where he became involved in managing rubber plantations. Although badly wounded during the First World War, Dowsett offered again for air service duirng the Second World War and was disappointed to find that his services were not required. In 1967 Dowsett was living in Sawtell (NSW). He passed away aged 84 in January 1978 (Death Notice Sydney Morning Herald 28 January 1978 p33).

Service History: Dowsett's Unit embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A62 'Wandilla' on 17 June 1915. He was badly wounded in the left shoulder and paralysed in the right leg on 26 July 1916. He returned to Australia on 13 February 1917 per 'Benalla' and was discharged in Melbourne on 17 July 1917.
