Biographical notes: Marsh was born on 7 April 1901, the son of Cecil Henry Marsh and Belle, nee Kelsey. He went to school at Darwin Public School. His brother was Pte Keith Melville Marsh (Service no:1946).

Service History: Marsh was a member of the Darwin Cable Guard. He enlisted three days after his 17th birthday, giving his year of birth as 1900. Both his parents gave their permission for his enlistment. His unit embarked from Adelaide on board HMAT A36 'Boonah' on 22 October 1918. He reached Durban when the armistice was signed so returned to Australia.
