Biographical notes: Edwards was born in Launceston, Tasmania on 27 June 1873 and died in Melbourne on 17 August 1937 aged 64 years. He was part of the first official contingent to depart Darwin on the SS ‘Changsha’ on 26 April 1915. This contingent was farewelled at a smoke social in the Palmerston Town Hall on 22 April 1915. Edwards returned to the Territory sometime after the war. He was variously engaged as a miner and blacksmith and in 1923 was nominated for the office of Councillor for the Darwin Town Council. He was also a Committee member of the Darwin RSL.
