Description / Abstract: Low Flow, or base flow stream gaugings have been carried out at the end of the 'Dry Season' by Water Resources technical and professional staff across the Katherine/Daly River Catchment since 2002. The data informs Water Assessment hydrogeologists which formations underlying the river are contributing water to the river via spring flow and which parts are taking water (recharging groundwater aquifers) from the system. Determining these contributions and losses is critical for water balance modeling and developing appropriate water management strategies. Comparison between years is also useful for determining rainfall/runoff baseflow relationships.
