Description: In the mid-ground is the camp consisting of various conical tents, corrugated iron sheds and a large timber building. At left near the water's edge is what appears to be a wooden slipway. About 7 men can be seen around the camp. Printed in the photograph at lower left is "22" and near the centre is Sweet's trademark anchor sign. In the background is Port Darwin at left and a headland at right. In pencil MS on verso "Entrance to Port Darwin / 1 Entrance to Port Darwin Harbour / The Camp 1872." Albumen paper photograph.
