Description: | B25C, USAAF serial 41-12798, constructor's No.82-5433 crash landed at Batchelor following a mission on 18 October 1943. The aircraft was on strength at No.18 N61-RAAF Squadron, having been received by the unit on 17 September 1942 at Canberra. The aircraft name, 'De Vliegtuig Hollander' (The Flying Dutchman) appears in Dutch on the port side, and in English on the starboard fuselage. Damage to the aircraft was confined to the nose area following an undercarriage collapse, and the salvage party has the aircraft readied for removal supported on a truck tray. |
