Description

The public presentation to Dr Clyde C. Fenton of a new machine (de Havilland) UH-UQV following the loss of his previous aircraft VH-UO2 at Parap in November 1936. The aircraft was purchased by public subscription and flown from Archerfield to Darwin following a re-build to airworthy standards by Qantas engineering staff. At Darwin it was presented to Fenton by Mrs Lugdin whose husband had figured prominently in the fund- raising activities. It was christened 'Robin' after Dr Cook's (the Government physician of the time) daughter. Originally a seaplane on the Great Lakes in Canada, the aircraft had been purchased and later flown to Australia by Jacques Hubert in 1932. It crashed at Cloncurry and later re-furbished by Qantas.,
