Vickers Vellore G-EBYX force landed at Cape Don, 85 miles NE of Darwin on 18 May 1929 after developing engine trouble 160 miles out over the Timor Sea. It was nursed along at low altitude until they saw the lighthouse and decided to stretch their luck no further and landed immediately. Flown by Jim Moir and Harold Owen. They were found by Lester Brain of Qantas on 26 May flying DH50A VH-UHE 'Atalanta'. The engine and the instruments were removed and the rest abandoned.,
