He was the third and youngest son of four children born to Henry John and Margaret Elizabeth (nee Hagan). His Cousins, Albert , John and Herbert Hagan and Fred Smith all killed in action or died of disease.,
History
Enlisted on the 9th July 1915 in 25th Battalion, 6th Reinforcement. His unit embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A48 'Seang Bee' on 21 October 1915. Promoted to Corporal and transferred to the 9th Battalion on the 17th March 1916. He was killed in action near Pozieres 22 July 1916.,
