Biographical notes
Bo de la Cruz grew up in Darwin and started playing touch rugby at the age of twelve. She later went on to represent the Northern Territory and Australia in the under 18s touch team. De la Cruz is the first Indigenous woman to represent Australia at senior level in touch rugby and has been a part of the team that has won two world championships. In a remarkable feat, de la Cruz won 'Player of the Tournament' in her first world championships. In 2008, she switched codes and represented a victorious Australia at the 2009 Rugby Sevens World Cup in Dubai.
She is dedicated to working with young Indigenous people and volunteers her time and expertise to many charities, events, schools and communities. De la Cruz also works as a Youth Worker with the non-profit organisation Balunu Foundation.
