Biographical notes

Eileen Cummings was born in Central Arnhem Land. She is a member of the 'Stolen Generation' having been taken from her mother as a young girl to live on Croker Island. Eileen has the distinction of being the first Indigenous person to qualify as a Pre-school teacher in the Northern Territory. She has also worked as a policy and liaison officer, an adult educator and program manager. She has dedicated much of her work and life to addressing Indigenous community issues, particularly those related to alcohol and violence. She is well known for her humanitarian work and is respected by Indigenous women and communities across the Territory. She is the mother of three children and grandmother to ten.,
