Biographical notes

NSW Death Certificate 13319/1946 Alexander was a member of the NT Survey Department before enlisting. Late Mr. A. J. Muntz Engineering, town planning, and local government interests were represented at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium yesterday at the cremation of Mr. A. J. Muntz, chief engineer of Ryde Council. Mr. Muntz died this week after serving seven weeks with Ryde Council, which had appointed him to supervise its £4,500,000 development and housing scheme. He was well known as an engineer, town planner, and surveyor in Victoria, New South Wales, and Malaya. The Sydney Morning Herald, Saturday 27 April 1946, page 12.,

History

Muntz's unit embarked from Melbourne, on board HMAT A16 'Port Melbourne' on 21 October 1916, arriving at Plymouth 28 December. After further training in England he then marched out to France 13 October. He did further training at Gas School in England and later rejoined his unit when he suffered a GSW to the thigh, hip and chest on 19 July 1918. He was evacuated to England and was discharged in November 1918. He was granted leave to attend extra training in his field of employment before returning to Australia on the HT 'Ajana' arriving on 11 October 1919.,
