Biographical notes
Walter Styles brother in law. "Jim Fawcett came to the Territory from Adelaide when he was sixteen years of age and was employed by A.E.Jolley and Co..... Seriously ill with enteric fever, he was invalided home to Adelaide in early 1916. He recovered his health and volunteered again to serve in France until the end of the war. He returned to work for A.E. Jolley after the war and retired in 1942 as Manager after 30 years of service. He took over the Adelaide River Hotel in 1946 and rebuilt it where it stands today on the northern side of the river. James Fawcett was one of the original trustees of the RSL Memorial Hall. History
Fawcett was in the Cable Guard, Darwin for 5 months. He enlisted in Brisbane with the Darwin Contingent in 25th Battalion B Company. He embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A60 'Aeneas' on 29 June 1915. Transferred to 5th Machine Gun Battalion. Returned to Darwin Wednesday 8 October 1919 via 'Mataram' Northern Territory Times and Gazette Saturday 11 October 1919: p.17.,
