In 1969 Dawn was holidaying in Darwin when she was introduced to Lee (Tim) Forday, who in 1961, had opened agencies including Tintara Wines and a sports store in the Parap shopping centre with a Post Office. They married in 1971 and adopted Michelle Lee Forday from Korea. They opened a Video Productions in Parap Place, apart from being a thriving business in movie rentals, it also supplied government departments and schools. They added toys to their shop at the Parap shopping centre and named it 'Tim the Toyman' which Dawn managed. Sometimes you would see Dawn in the Casuarina shopping centre, at their 'Tim the Toyman' shop which they opened in Forday's Newsagency, helping out. After thirty three years 'Tim the Toyman' shop at Parap closed its doors Dawn and Tim auctioned the last of the shop's stock and fittings with over 300 hundred shoppers at the auction.,
