Biographical notes

Margaret taught in Alice Springs for approximately eight years before she took up the position as music adviser to the Department of Education of the Northern Territory. She established combined schools choral festival called the 'Sing Out' which enabled students to participate in a large performance. In the 1980s she began on-air recorder lessons and has played with many musical groups. Margaret also established a primary school flute ensemble which was very successful and performed at the 1986 Conference of the Australian Society for Music Education. She founded a number of musical groups which included: the Alice Springs Big Band; the Junior Singers and Party Flutes of Central OZ. As a musician Margaret accompanied interstate performances who visited Central Australia. She was a ground breaker in bring music to the youth in isolated areas and opening up opportunities for people to experience musical enrichment.,
