The Western Davenport Plains area has been defined as the area west of the Davenport Ranges, with the western boundary at the Hanson River, the southern boundary approximating the Murray Downs southern boundary and the northern boundary approximating the Singleton northern boundary. Areas around the creeks on the Western Davenport Plains are floodplains, floodouts and swamps. Away from the creeks the land is mainly flat to very gently undulating sandplain with sandy red earths. The land is mainly used for pastoral purposes.,
