Biographical notes

Cummings married Lillian Young, sister of Jim Young. He was President of the Darwin RSL 1923-1924 and Station Master at Katherine from 1926. He was in Darwin on 19 February 1942. His son Frank, an only child, was killed in 1943 in an aircraft accident on active service with the RAAF in Scotland. See photograph in Geddes p.40.,

History

Cummings embarked from Sydney, on board HMAT A4 'Pera' on 22 March 1916. He was taken on strength with the 2nd Light Horse and served in Tel el Kabir, Egypt before being taken on strength with the 6th Light Horse serving at Deir el Belah, Palestine before the unit transferred to Egypt where he saw out the war. He returned to Australia on 27 June 1919 on HT 'Madras'.,
