Biographical notes
Government Secretary of the Northern Territory 1922-1925. While in Darwin was the President of the RSL, the NTFL, and the Darwin Race Club. Ran against Harold Nelson in the 1925 Federal election. There is a letter in his war service file from Jessie Litchfield requesting details of his service career - dated 28 November 1950. Also a letter from 7 December 1950 from W.M. Hughes.,

Lieutenant 5 AIR. Captain Essendon Rifles. Served on Transport duties in 1915. Re-enlisted. Promoted to Rank of Major 1 May 1916. Embarked Melbourne on board HMAT A34 'Persic' on 3 June 1916. Gun shot wound to the arm October 1917. Mentioned in Despatches. Twice recommended for Distinguished Service Order. Returned to Australia 21 February 1920 per 'Orontes'.,
