Morris returned and settled in Sydney after the war, continuing to work in his carpentry trade.,

History

Morris served with the Cable Guard in Darwin as well as volunteer service in Fiji prior to his enlistment for the Great War. Morris embarked with the 4th Battalion from Sydney, per HMAT A14 'Euripides' on 20 October 1914. He was wounded for the first time on 3 May 1915. He transferred to No.4 Auxiliary Hospital in Egypt from 9 February 1916, followed by attachment to 8th Field Ambulance then 15th Field Ambulance from December 1916. Morris transferred as a private to 3rd Australian General Hospital Unit on 25 December 1917 as well as spending periods of time stationed with the 31st Battalion throughout 1917. His final hospital period during the war years was spent in England with tuberculosis in 1918. Morris returned to Australia 18 January 1919 per SS 'Margha' and was discharged 25 May 1919.,
