Biographical notes
In 1972 Kate moved to Nhulunbuy as a child with her family where she attended school. Kate joined the Northern Territory Police Force in February 1979, becoming the first Policewoman motorcyclist in Australia in April 1980. Kate has served in Darwin, Katherine, and Alice Springs. She has held positions in the Traffic Section, General Duties, Prosecutions, the College, and Southern Crime Division, and has been Commander of the Ethical and Professional Standards Unit.
In 2010 Kate was awarded the Patricia Brennan award in recognition of her contribution to women in policing. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts (History and English), a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Public Policy and Administration, and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management. She has also completed the Police Management Development Program conducted by the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM).,
