Biographical notes

Born in Darwin, Lia grew up in Palmerston, attending local primary schools before completing high school at Kormilda College. Lia was also an Army Cadet for five years, achieving the highest cadet ranking available in the Northern Territory. After college she continued her studies at the University of Adelaide where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Studies. Lia returned to Darwin in 2008, completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and began practicing as a lawyer, specializing in commercial litigation. Lia's community involvement includes acting as President of Business and Professional Women (Darwin) and Secretary of the Palmerston Regional Business Association. She is also a founding member, and Chief Executive Officer, of the Italian Festival Association of the Northern Territory, and volunteers for Sids & Kids. Lia was a finalist in the Australian of the Year Young Achiever (NT) in 2012. On 25 August 2012, Lia assumed office as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the electorate of Drysdale. Lia lives in Palmerston with her partner Sam Burke, son of former CLP Chief Minister Denis Burke.,
