Tennant Creek
Tennant Creek telegraph station. The Telegraph line was so important to the whole of Australia that, once it was completed, it would have to be kept alive and sustained. That gave the Territory a guarantee that if all else failed there would always be a telegraph system and the people who made it work. The system stretched along a single wire that ran from south to north to connect Australia with the world.
