A de Havilland DH86 (a Commonwealth Class model following QANTAS insistence that the company's aircraft be equipped for dual control in contrast to a single control column as in British aircraft) VH-USG, the second of the type to be received by QANTAS in November 1934. The aircraft arrived in Darwin on 13 November flown by Capt R A Prendergast, F R Charlton and W V Creetis, with Bunny Broadfoot joining the crew as passengers. The aircraft crashed two days later near Longreach in Queensland killing all on board - subsequently all DH86 aircraft were grounded pending the results of investigations.,
