This report describes the soil and land suitability assessment for the potential of irrigated agriculture conducted during 2016-17 for part of the Hugh River Valley within Orange Creek Station. The study area covers 16.7 km2 and is located approximately 90km south of the Alice Springs township via the Stuart Highway and the Hugh River Stock Route.
The primary purpose of the investigation was to map, describe and evaluate soil landscapes to inform future irrigation development in an area with identified potential for groundwater extraction.,
